About the role

To support our Data Protection/ICT team, we are currently looking for a paralegal.

The ALTIUS data protection/ICT team is a leader in the field of data protection. We specialise in proceedings in this matter before the Data Protection Authority as well as the courts and tribunals. We assist our clients with in-depth expertise and strategic insight.

In addition to such proceedings, we guide SMEs and larger companies through GDPR compliance tracks and support them in complex issues concerning the use of data, AI, digital services, camera legislation, cyber security and so on.

Our team combines legal acumen with a pragmatic approach to provide innovative and practical solutions in an ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Job description

As a paralegal, your main responsibilities will be to provide legal support to the Data Protection/ICT Team, with a particular focus on know-how management, legal research and internal team coordination.

The job includes amongst others the following tasks:

Know-how management:

  • Organisation and maintenance of the practice group’s know-how database;
  • Development and updating of templates and standard legal documents;
  • Management of precedents and best practices;
  • Ensuring know-how is accessible and up-to-date for the team (including within our AI tool Legora);

Legal research and support:

  • Conducting legal research on commercial and ICT law topics;
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in commercial law, technology law and data protection;
  • Preparing legal summaries and research memos;

Internal coordination:

  • Preparation of internal team meetings (agenda, documentation, minutes);
  • Supporting the team with presentations, articles and newsletters;
  • Coordination of training sessions and knowledge sharing initiatives;

Contract and document management:

  • Review and management of commercial contracts and ICT agreements;
  • Contract database management and tracking of contractual deadlines;
  • Drafting and preparation of legal documents;
  • Translation of documents.

Your profile

  • You hold a Bachelor or Master degree in law;
  • You are fluent in Dutch or French. Your level of English and Dutch/French is suitable for daily use in a business environment. Any knowledge of an additional language is a plus;
  • You are familiar with research tools such as legal databases;
  • You have good knowledge of MS Office;
  • You have strong organisational skills and attention for detail;
  • You possess excellent writing and analytical skills and you prefer a pragmatic and hands-on approach;
  • You are able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively;
  • You have a positive mindset and a can-do attitude;
  • You are not afraid to speak your mind, are proactive and show initiative;
  • You are an open and enthusiastic team player and highly motivated;
  • Previous experience in a law firm or legal department is a plus but not required.
