IBA Paris 2023
The IBA Annual Conference will take place in Paris on 29 October – 3 November, and as every year ALTIUS will be proudly represented.

Marie Brasseur, Partner, Corporate and M&A
Commissioner of the Future of Legal Services Commission
Marie specialises in complex international and national M&A transactions, including distressed acquisitions and private equity transactions. She is bringing a wealth of experience and strategic insight to clients seeking to navigate the complexities of these deals.
She is also renowned for her ability to craft tailored legal solutions for her clients and advises regularly on domestic and cross-border restructurings. Marie is an active member of the legal community and regularly participates in industry events and associations, such as AIJA (Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats), where she acted as President of the Corporate and M&A Commission for 3 years and the IBA, where she has been an Officer for many years and now is a Commissioner of the Future of Legal Services Commission.

Alexander Hansebout, Partner, Dispute Resolution
Member of the (Litigation Committee) core project team preparing the “IBA Guide to Cross-Border Enforcement of Judgments Against States”
Alexander specialises in domestic and international dispute resolution. He has extensive experience in complex disputes concerning a broad range of issues, including: commercial and contractual matters; liability and insurance; insolvency-related matters; and the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Alexander provides pre-litigation counsel and conducts negotiations, mediation and litigation before the national courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union. He has been involved in numerous arbitration cases (ICC, CEPANI, NAI, SCC, WIPO and ad hoc), both representing the parties and as an arbitrator.

Lieven Peeters, Partner, Real Estate
Officer of the Leisure Committee and active member of the Real Estate Section – panel speaker at the 2023 IBA Real Estate Investments Conference in Santiago (Chili) and at the 2022 IBA Annual Conference in Miami
Lieven is a renowned expert in the field of real estate and construction. He has a deep knowledge of contract law and co-heads both the ‘retail & consumer goods’ and the ‘leisure & hospitality’ industry practice.
Lieven advises his clients in all aspects of complex real estate (M&A) transactions, including: the structuring of real estate projects; real estate M&A; sale-and-leaseback transactions; joint ventures; leasing; FIIS (REIT-) structures; (re-)development projects. He has advised on various major transactions in the Belgian market involving large several logistic clusters and hotels; office buildings; commercial properties; court of Justice; large inner-city (re-)developments; and on other real estate niche products (including dark kitchens and mixed-use projects).

Christophe Ronse, Partner, Intellectual Property & Life Sciences
Officer of the IP Committee
Christophe is a partner in the IP & Dispute Resolution department of ALTIUS and leads the firm’s life sciences and patents practice. In particular, he specialises in intellectual property, with a focus on patent law, and healthcare law. Christophe advises and assists national and international clients in complex litigation at the Belgian and international level.
Christophe is a regular contributor of legal articles and a speaker at conferences mainly in the field of intellectual property & pharmaceutical law, including delivering the inaugural address to the Brussels Bar Association for the judicial year 2005-2006.

Jérôme Vermeylen, Partner, Corporate and M&A
Jérôme Vermeylen’s practice is focused on M&A, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, and corporate law in general. He has an in-depth knowledge in cross-border mergers and reorganisations.
Jérôme advises numerous Belgian and international groups and private equity funds about their proposed acquisitions, investments, reorganisations, and other corporate issues. He also assists clients in corporate dispute resolution files (e.g., post-acquisition claims, shareholders’ disputes, and directors’ liability issues) and in banking and finance matters. Over the years, Jérôme has been assisting clients from various industries, including technology and telecoms, insurance, real estate, logistics and non-profit.
