Sport has become a global industry with ever increasing legal complexities and numerous challenges for all actors involved.
To respond to a growing demand, ALTIUS has developed a full fledged Sports Law practice that assists clients with highly specialised advice and legal services.
ALTIUS has a proven track record advising players, players’ agents, clubs, national and international governing bodies and multinational companies on contentious and non-contentious matters in the sports industry.
Our lawyers have a deep knowledge of the regulations of the various national and international sports federations and their specific arbitration procedures.
In addition, our Sports Law practice heralds a multi-disciplinary approach with lawyers who are specialists in the various, complex legal aspects so familiar to sports cases. We call on the expertise of colleagues who are experts in employment law, commercial law, competition law, regulatory law, audio-visual rights and intellectual property rights. This cross practice structure enables us to devise fully integrated solutions to the issues confronted by our clients in the increasingly challenging regulatory and commercial environment of the sports industry. The broad range of expertise within the Sports Law team and the cooperation with the tax firm Tiberghien enables the team to deliver outstanding and innovative advice.
Led by partners Carmen Verdonck and Sven Demeulemeester, ALTIUS' Sports Law practice has a broad experience in advising on the regulations and the procedures of national and international sports governing bodies, negotiation of employment contracts and transfers, the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights, trade mark registrations and infringements, and negotiation of broadcast and publishing agreements."
